My creative life began at home in my mother’s pottery studio. What started as pure enjoyment throwing clay around developed into a two decade award-winning career across the creative sector. Currently in the role of art director for top-selling New Zealand food magazine Cuisine in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, I’ve been twice awarded by the Magazine Publishers Association. While leading a team of photographers, stylists and illustrators in creating world-class design across all platforms, my cooking skills have come a long way – I have even had a go at throwing a few ceramic plates to serve these meals on, and learnt to forge my own kitchen knife.
Three years studying visual communications design at Wellington Polytechnic was followed by a four-year BFA from Whanganui’s School of the Arts, graduating with high distinction. My extensive design experience in book and magazine publishing to print and digital branding has given me the insight, skills and experience to engage in creative projects with a layered perspective. In my personal time I enjoy a process of inquiry that feeds my art and design practice, with a number of projects on the go at one time.
